Join us for a very special celebration of Doors Open Ottawa—our last at 395 Wellington Street! This is your chance to go behind the scenes at Library and Archives Canada (LAC). Explore, learn and create during our weekend-long celebration of Ottawa’s architecture.

Doors Open Ottawa is a yearly event in Ottawa, Ontario, that offers public access to the city's distinctive and historically important buildings. This includes government offices, museums, radio stations, places of worship, embassies and historical landmarks. Organized by the City of Ottawa, this is a free annual architectural event that celebrates our community’s built heritage.

Activities planned at 395 Wellington Street

  • Tour public spaces and behind-the-scenes gems
  • Get hands-on with collaging and colouring activities
  • Browse and shop at the Friends of LAC book sale
  • Explore the rich history of our building and LAC’s role in the preservation of Canada’s documentary heritage
  • Learn about LAC’s future shared facility with the Ottawa Public Library, Ādisōke
  • Black Diasporas Tkaronto–Toronto —a powerful collection of short films highlighting the depth of Black history in Toronto and across Canada
  • Meet Eric Chan, LAC's first Creator in Residence - learn how the collections at LAC are inspiring him and his creative process! Meet him between 10am – 12pm each day
