Résumé
This thesis explores the boundaries of the 1923 (Williams) Treaties. The boundaries of the 1923 treaties have been acknowledged as containing 10,719 square miles or 20,100 square miles and a "basket clause" which included other lands, by the Federal Government. This thesis is also a general history of the Mississauga and Chippewa land claim, 1869 and 1923. The Federal Government intention in the 1923 (Williams) treaties were to only describe boundaries to 10,719 square miles. Therefore, lands outside of the 10,719 square miles remain not covered by a treaty, have been usurped from the Mississauga and Chippewa without compensation.
