Abstract
This participatory action research project explores traditional Aboriginal healers' recommendations for improving community wellness. Using purposive sampling four healers were selected from their communities as the project participants. In order to learn from the healers' stories and wisdom, rich, descriptive details from the one-on-one interviews are provided. The research findings suggest that increasing community togetherness and revitalizing traditional ways taught to younger generations renews the physical, spiritual, mental, spiritual, and emotional wellness in Aboriginal communities. The findings also indicate that much work needs to be done to bring back the respect for elders, revive lost languages, and renew traditional ways that were lost when the Aboriginal communities were splintered by the Canadian Aboriginal policies such as residential schools and laws prohibiting the Aboriginal languages and cultural traditions.
