Abstract
A Vector Discrete Event System (VDES) is a Discrete Event System in which the state space and transition function have arithmetic additive structure. The thesis studies supervisory control of Vector Discrete Event Systems with emphasis being laid on closed-form solutions (CFS) for supervisors. Sufficient conditions for the existence of the CFS as well as a systematic approach to synthesize the CFS are provided. VTCT, a software tool for analysis and synthesis of VDES is introduced. Some examples are studied in detail to illustrate control system modelling by VDES and our theoretical results on controller synthesis.
