Abstract
This work presents a theoretical study of thin, elastic and isotropic cantilevered cylindrical shells conveying an incompressible fluid that can be considered either to be inviscid or viscous. The pressure perturbation is computed by means of the potential flow theory for inviscid flow and by solving the Navier-Stokes equations for the viscous flow. Shell displacements are described by Flugge's equations of motions. Solution of the coupled fluid-structure equations is carried out by means of the Fourier Transform Method. The main finding of this research is that stability is lost by flutter according to inviscid and viscous flow. The presence of unsteady viscous forces stabilize slightly the system.
