Black Memory Collective's Archive Party
Join experts from Library and Archives Canada and Melissa J. Nelson, archivist and founder of the Black Memory Collective, at the Archive Party.
Even as archival institutions evolve, they remain spaces of power. Despite advances in technology, there are many threats to our digital archives. The information within the archives is not necessarily eternal, and it is preserved on an individual and continuous basis.
The Archive Party offers an opportunity to make sense of archiving in a user-friendly and inclusive gathering, where participants will learn how to preserve their digital archives all while building a connection with their community.
Interested? At this event, you can:
- bring your own scanned or digital photographs on a laptop, hard drive, USB key or cloud storage
- receive instruction on digital archiving tools and methods
- discuss what you’re rediscovering in your digital archives
- have fun while listening to great music!
Attendees will use Microsoft Lists (a Microsoft 365 application) to catalogue their collections. It’s a simple, smart and flexible tool for organizing and managing data.
