Researching online: upgrades for 2025
It’s only February, but we already have a few exciting updates to announce about how we are improving online access to announce for 2025:
Collection search
We’ve made some improvements to our Collection search application. Based on feedback from our users, we’ve upgraded the overall look and feel, and we’ve improved the advanced search option to make it more intuitive and user-friendly.
Collection search also has a new search engine powered by ElasticSearch. We’ve developed an information page that outlines the new algorithm’s features and details and what to expect when you use the new search engine.
We are running both search engine environments for a limited period of time until we finish the transition to the replacement search engine.
Take it for a spin! If you have thoughts you’d like to share about Collection search, contact us.
Public research lists
We’re pleased to invite you to start using the new public research list feature, which takes the My Research function to a new level. Now, when you have found and saved documents of interest in Collection search to My Research, you can create curated lists that you can then share with others through our website. Of course, this also means that you can explore and discover lists created by others—you can browse the Public research lists by topic, explore recent and popular lists, or search by keyword.
As you explore the collections, you’ll notice that LAC staff are publishing research lists as well to share their knowledge with you.
We’re excited to use these lists to showcase gems in the collections and guide users through complex topics.
Sign in or create an account with LAC to start curating and sharing your own lists!
