Canadian students and young professionals discuss service transformation with Library and Archives Canada

Library and Archives Canada (LAC) is proud to introduce the 2023-2024 members of its Youth Advisory Council. This year’s cohort boasts an impressive 20 members, including three returning members from the previous year.

The 2023–2024 cohort is a mix of students and young professionals between the ages of 16 and 25 from across Canada, selected through a rigorous process that aims to create a cohesive unit with a wide variety of backgrounds and equity groups. While not all members have experience in the library and archival fields of study, they all share these essential qualities: creativity, critical thinking, curiosity, enthusiasm, reliability and the ability to work well with others.

From November 2023 to May 2024, YAC members will attend monthly virtual meetings with LAC staff to share their perspectives, recommendations and ideas on service transformation, with an even greater focus on outreach.
