TD Summer Reading Club
Reading fun for kids, from Canada's public libraries
About the club
The TD Summer Reading Club is Canada's biggest, bilingual summer reading program for kids of all ages, interests and abilities. Co-created and delivered by over 2,200 libraries across Canada, this free national program is developed by the Toronto Public Library in partnership with Library and Archives Canada. Sponsorship is provided by TD Bank Group.
The Club helps connect families with books and builds confidence in reading through the delivery of free incentives and fun, accessible library activities. All summer long across Canada, libraries aim to inspire a sense of adventure and wonder, nurture children's imaginations and celebrate their accomplishments.
In fact, studies show that kids who keep reading all summer do better when they return to school in the fall. The Club celebrates Canadian authors, illustrators and stories, and inspires kids to explore the fun of reading their way. This is the key to building a lifelong love of reading.
The TD Summer Reading Club will have a hybrid model in 2021. Depending on local public health protocols, kids will be able to register either in-person at their public library or online. As of June 15, kids across the country are encouraged to visit
tdsummerreadingclub.ca. There they can create an online notebook, read ebooks, participate in weekly trivia questions, read an original web comic, print colouring sheets, and vote for their favourite book in our weekly Battle of the Books! For more information about the Club and the 2021 program, please visit the
TD Summer Reading Club website or contact your local public library.
New this year: StoryWalk®!
The TD Summer Reading Club is very excited to be supporting over 550 libraries across the country in this fun and socially distanced outdoor activity for young families. StoryWalk® is a free activity that places a children’s book, page by page, on large panels along a popular pathway or in a park, for community members to read and enjoy as they stroll along. Our 2021 StoryWalk® features the book The Thing Lou Couldn't Do, by Canadian author and illustrator Ashley Spires. The story will be available in English, French and bilingual versions. Check with your local library to find a StoryWalk® near you!
